ICT 4 EVEU – ICT services for Electric Vehicle Enhancing the User Experience
:.: Descripción del servicio
Due to the increasing awareness on climate change and the rising of fuel and oil prices, sustainable transport system with lower carbon emissions have prompted most of the world’s developed countries to step up the research, demonstration and deployment of transport systems that use more energy-efficient and less fuel-dependent vehicles.

Electro-mobility is the mobility offered by electric vehicles that are fully integrated into a well-adapted transport system. In this context, electro-mobility is seen as one of the largest opportunities to radically change today's transport system and make a quantum leap into the next generation of sustainable mobility.

Electro-mobility in particular is currently promoted by several Member States, although there still remain a number of issues to be addressed to achieve full integration of electrical vehicles into the transport system.

One of these initiatives, ICT4EVEU project, intends to facilitate and enhance the user experience and acceptance of electrical vehicles both, individually (car, motorcycle) and collective (bus, car-sharing) by deploying a set of ICT-based services for EV focused on the integration of innovative technologies.

Some of the specific objectives of the project are as follows:

• To book in advance simplifying the payment procedure
• To make use of innovative tools for communication vehicle - infrastructure - control centre
• To guarantee the access to reviews including information about the charging history, events, charging stations utilized
To recommend and guide the driver to the most suitable recharging station, according to the battery status and the grid availability

15 private and public organizations form the UK, Slovenia, Austria and Spain work together in this European project with budget of 4.400.007 € and it is managed by the Government of Navarre.

ICT4EVEU is one of the four projects included in the Information and Communication Technologies Policy Support Program (ICT-PSP) Smart Connected Electro Mobility. The program will contribute to the European goal of creating a sustainable transport system with lower carbon emissions.

:.: Público Beneficiario
Target audience

Private EV users such as citizens, tourists, auto club’s members; local and regional government’s fleets (heath services, universities, public transport, car-sharing); companies (taxi drivers, freight services, couriers, charging stations and its owners, supermarkets, hotels, shopping centers, etc).

Technologies included in the project

ICT4EVU project consist of three pilots projects with an increasing geographical scope (urban, regional and transnational) to be implemented in Bristol (UK), Ljubljana, Maribor (Slovenia), Vitoria y Pamplona (Spain).

Bristol: This pilot will be focused in the integration of commuters in the urban area of Bristol, reaching a population up to 500.000 and with a high movement from locations nearby. It is important to explain that this English city has been really concerned in transportation within its commute area during the last years. The implementation of the Electric Vehicle is regarded as a possible solution in terms of efficiency for the town, which must have an interconnected and fast-charging infrastructure.

Vitoria y Pamplona: Its objective is to develop a general management system of electric vehicle infrastructures assuring mobility in an area of 100 Km among the cities of Vitoria and Pamplona. It will consist on the development of value added E-energy services for the EV drivers. A double approach will be included in the pilot: urban and interurban. The services will be deployed taking into account both of them.

The main idea for Ljubljana and Maribor is to develop services on top of the present charging infrastructure already developed in the cities and to share some of them with the neighbouring cities in the region. Project outcomes should enable citizens to travel through the project area without the problem of not being able to use the entire available charging infrastructure. Local/national systems should be prepared in advance to cope with the expected development of electro-mobility.
